Nightmare
I had lived in London for some time, but in my neighborhood there was still a lot of streets I had not been to. One evening something terrible happened. I had gone out late. After half an hour I suddenly realized that I was lost. The famous London fog took me by surprise. I wandered around for an hour, and had almost given up hope of finding my way home.
Then a gentleman turned up and offered to help me. He called himself Jack the Ripper. Where had I heard that name before? Suddenly I remembered: many women had disappeared in the last months. Some had been found in the Thames; others had never turned up. There had been many articles about him in the newspapers. I wanted to scream, but I couldn’t - and then, luckily, I woke up.
