Describe the mood of the opening paragraph. Are there elements that break the atmosphere of the first paragraph?
It starts out quite romantic. Everyone is happy. The young man is in love. But around page 179, line 25 the mood changes and gets darker. And then it ends quite violently.
Make a character sketch of the young man.
Young age, dressing in a light grey suit and tie, top collar button undone, dark short hair, light blue eyes… He is in love, romantic, happy, friendly
How do the people he passes see the young man? What do they think of him? (pp.178-179)
They don’t think.. They just feed back his joyous state..
What happens when he meets “Norma” in the alley? Why?
He snaps when he realizes that she is not Norma. He has done this five times before.
What does he look like after he has left “Norma”? Why?
He has bloodstains on his suit, but doesn’t show in the dark. He smiles because some day soon he would find Norma.
Why does the old woman say to her husband “How come you don’t look that way anymore?”
